Pool Volume Calculator
Find your pool’s volume in gallons. Every chlorine, shock, and balance dose starts here.
Pool volume calculator
Volume drives every chemical dose. Enter your shape and dimensions in feet.

Surface area × average depth × 7.48 gallons per cubic foot.
Rectangle: 32 × 16 × 4.5 ft × 7.48 = 17,235 gal.
How to measure your pool
Volume is the foundation of pool care: dose chlorine, shock, acid, or stabilizer against the wrong volume and you will over- or under-treat. Measure length, width, and both the shallow and deep-end depths in feet. The calculator averages the two depths, then multiplies surface area by average depth and by 7.48 — the number of US gallons in one cubic foot.
Which shape should I pick?
- Rectangle: classic in-ground pools. Length × width.
- Round: above-ground pools measured by diameter (area = πr²).
- Oval: above-ground oval pools; area is the ellipse π × (L/2) × (W/2).
Got your number? Use it in the chlorine & shock calculator, the pH & balance calculator, or the pump & filter sizing tool.
